Pirates Haul in Hidden Treasure
The Pirates will sign a full class for the 2016 cycle on the first ECU National Signing Day of the Scottie Montgomery era at East Carolina.
Montgomery and his staff didn't have an abundance of time to put things together, but they came away with some very interesting hidden treasure in this year's haul of Pirate football booty.
The list includes five offensive linemen, three wide receivers, two running backs, a pair of defensive tackles and defensive ends, one quarterback, three linebackers and several players who can play multiple positions.
ECU addressed their need to add numbers along the offensive line, replenish at the wide receiver position, shore up some depth on defense, add at least one quality quarterback in every cycle and bring in good people who will represent the university in a first class manner.
There are eleven players from North Carolina, two from South Carolina, three from Georgia, one from California and Florida, one from Texas an one from Mississippi among this year's East Carolina signing class.
A pair of surprises in the form of Sean Bailey a 6-6 320 pound offensive lineman who was previously committed to Cincinnati is from Suwanee, Georgia will sign with the Pirates. He was recruited by Geep Wade, ECU's new offensive line coach. Bailey talks to PI about his decision as does California offensive lineman Jarred Dorton. Catch both stories on the PI front page.
The second is running back Hussein Howe a 5-9, 179 pound speedster from University Christian High in Jacksonville, Florida who was recruited by Shannon Moore made a NSD morning decision to sign with ECU.
